Today I took my children clam digging for the first time - it was a blast even though the weather was crusty. We went with the Mallonees - thank you! I hadn't been since I was in junior high(?) but it brought back lots of memories. My mom used to take us digging before school and drop us off afterwards - we must have smelled lovely!
We had wind, drizzle and even some sleet but the kids are willing to go again so I would say that it was a success. Liz says it is worth it - she is excited about the prospects of clam chowder, her favorite food! However, now that the clams are cleaned (a job I tackled by myself b/c no one else wanted to learn - "maybe next time, mom") I realize we need more! We only got 9 - 3 of us could have had 45 if they were showing better! We worked hard for them, though, and look forward to enjoying the fruit of our labor.
